On The Road

On Belitung Island, we stayed in a remote area, next to a fishing village. On our way out, we paid a visit to our neighbors and inquired about their industry. This beautiful woman, originally from Sulawesi, was happy to share a bit about how they make “money for their wallet”. The fishermen go out at night (we had observed this as we watched the nightly sunset) and fish until 2:00 or 3:00 am. The following day the catch is rinsed and dried in the sun for several hours. They were very proud that they are not adding anything to their fish, and that their catch is desirable for export. We enjoyed the small peek into their village life.. I even got to walk out all the way on their dock made of sticks.. I was quite pleased that I didn’t fall through! #belitunggetaway #islandlife
